The school’s Governing Body comprises volunteer representatives of five “stakeholder” groups: Foundation, Parents, Staff, Local Authority and the local Community (additional Governors can be seconded as “Associates”). Governors act much like a board of directors of a company, overseeing and challenging the running of the school, but not interfering with the day-to-day running. We hope that you’ll agree that your school is in very safe hands.
The main role of the Governing Body is to support the Headteacher and staff. Together we set targets to help achieve excellence across the school, through use of the School Development Plan (SDP) and the Self Evaluation Form (SEF). The SDP is a strategic plan for the school, with targets set for staff and governors to work towards. The SEF highlights how the school is running and any areas for improvement.
Each Governor brings different skills and experience to the governing body, and typically serves on one of four sub-committees:
Pupils & Curriculum
Finance & Staffing
Health, Safety & Premises
Pay & conditions

Our Governing Body meets once a term for both Full Governing Board meetings and the sub committees as detailed above.
